Replacement Number Plate for Skoda
Legal & Show Plates makes road legal and show number plates for every current Skoda, plus older ones still on UK roads. Every plate is the single size that fits a Skoda front and rear, 520mm x 111mm, in one of seven finishes from Standard at £25 up to Black Diamond. Order before 2pm and it ships same day by Royal Mail, tracked 24 hour option available.
Which Skoda models we cover
Skoda's current UK range splits into four groups. The Fabia and Scala are the smaller, everyday cars. The Octavia and Superb, each available as Hatch or Estate, are the family models. The Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq make up the SUV range. On the electric side, the Elroq, Enyaq (including Enyaq Coupe) and Epiq are Skoda's fully electric models.
Replacing a plate on an older Skoda? You are still covered. The Citigo, Yeti and Rapid are discontinued but remain common on UK roads, and we make plates for them exactly as for a current model, same size, compliance and finish choice.
Fitting a replacement plate on a Skoda, step by step
We have not found any documented fitting quirk specific to Skoda, so the general process for most modern cars applies here. Our fitting guide has the full version.
- Check how the current plate is held, most cars use self-tapping screws, some adhesive pads.
- Remove the old plate, keeping the surround if you want to reuse it.
- Clean the mounting area so the new plate sits flat and any adhesive bonds properly.
- Offer the new plate up before fixing, checking it sits square and clear of trim.
- Refit using the original screw holes, or fresh pads if changing method.
- Check level and spacing before you drive off.
Which finish suits which Skoda
Fabia and Scala buyers tend to want a smart, tidy car rather than a statement, so a Standard plate or our 3D Gel finish suits well, a clean, factory-look result. Move up to the Octavia or Karoq and a bit more depth makes sense, which is where 4D 3mm earns its keep, raised characters that catch the light without shouting.
The Superb and Kodiaq are Skoda's flagship models, and owners tend to want the plate to match, more presence, a finish that looks deliberate. That is where 5D Gel and Black Diamond make sense, both give a genuinely premium look up close. On the electric Elroq and Enyaq, we would lean the other way, these cars are designed around a clean, uncluttered look that a lighter finish tends to suit better.
The EV green flash option for electric Skodas
The Elroq, Enyaq, Enyaq Coupe and Epiq are all genuinely zero emission battery electric vehicles, so they qualify for the optional green flash, a small green rectangle on the left of the plate. It is not available on any hybrid or plug-in hybrid.
Skoda's electric models each carry their own standalone nameplate rather than an electric badge on a petrol model, a simpler picture than brands where one name covers both fuel types, so there is little confusion over which Skoda qualifies. Whether a green flash gets you anything locally, such as reduced clean air zone charges, varies by council, so check locally rather than assume a saving. Our guide to green number plates covers eligibility in more depth.
Caring for your plate on a Skoda
Plates last a long time if treated sensibly. Keep the jet wash lance at a reasonable distance rather than blasting the edges, and clean with a soft cloth and ordinary car shampoo rather than anything abrasive. Grit and road salt sitting in the corners over winter dulls a plate early, so a rinse after a salted-road drive is worth the effort. Our cleaning and maintenance guide covers finish-specific advice.
Common mistakes Skoda owners make when ordering a replacement plate
- Assuming a shorter size exists for a Skoda, it does not, every plate we make is 520mm x 111mm.
- Not having proof of entitlement to hand, we need this before making a road legal plate.
- Adding a green flash without checking the car is genuinely a battery EV, not a hybrid.
- Ordering a show finish for a car that goes through an MOT, check compliance before buying.
Our wider guide to number plate ordering mistakes covers ones that catch out buyers across every make.
Road legal compliance
Every plate we make is built to DVLA's published number plate display rules under BS AU 145e, in force since 1 September 2021. It sets exact figures, characters 79mm tall and 50mm wide (except the numeral 1 and letter I, narrower), a 14mm stroke, 11mm spacing between characters, a 33mm gap before the age identifier, and 11mm margins. The background must be white retroreflective at the front and yellow at the rear, single solid black characters only, and the plate must show the supplier's name and postcode. Raised, gel filled and diamond cut finishes such as 4D and 5D Gel are dimensional rather than a colour effect, so they stay compliant provided the characters read solid black at the correct dimensions.
That same spacing and reflectivity also keeps a plate readable to ANPR cameras. We are not a DVLA registered supplier. Our plates are built to DVLA's published rules under BS AU 145e.

Replacement Number Plate for Skoda FAQs
Q: What size number plate does a Skoda need?
Every Skoda takes the standard UK size of 520mm x 111mm front and rear, and that is the only size we make. There is no shorter, smaller or square option.
Q: Can I get a green flash plate for my Skoda Enyaq?
Yes. The Enyaq, Elroq, Enyaq Coupe and Epiq are genuinely zero emission battery electric vehicles, so they qualify for the optional green flash. It is not available on any Skoda hybrid.
Q: Are 4D or 5D Gel plates road legal on a Skoda?
Yes, provided they meet BS AU 145e. Raised and gel finishes are dimensional rather than a colour change, so they are compliant as long as the characters are solid black at the correct dimensions.
Q: Can I still order a plate for a discontinued Skoda like the Yeti or Rapid?
Yes. We make plates for the Citigo, Yeti and Rapid exactly as for a current model, same size, same compliance rules, same range of finishes.
Q: How quickly will my Skoda plate arrive?
Orders placed before 2pm are dispatched the same day by Royal Mail, typically 1 to 3 working days. A tracked 24 hour option is available if you need it sooner.
