Which finish suits which Mazda
A Mazda2 or Mazda3 bought for daily use tends to suit a cleaner look, a Standard flat plate or the subtler 3D Gel finish, since most owners want the plate legible and tidy rather than a styling feature. The MX-5 is different, bought for character, and a plate with genuine dimension such as our 5D Gel suits a car already about how it looks and drives. The CX-60 and CX-80 are flagship SUVs with real road presence, and a deeper finish such as 4D 5mm reads well against their size. The CX-30 sits in between, most owners we speak to are happy with a little depth without shouting about it.
The EV green flash option for electric Mazdas
The green flash is the small green rectangle on the left of a plate, for genuinely zero-emission vehicles only, never hybrids or plug-in hybrids. On the current range the Mazda6e and CX-6e both qualify, fully electric, and nothing else in the petrol or mild-hybrid line-up does. The discontinued MX-30 also qualifies, but only the standard battery-electric version, since eligibility is about the vehicle, not whether it is still sold new. The rotary-engined MX-30 R-EV does not qualify, its petrol range-extender means it is not zero-emission, despite looking almost identical. Check the logbook before ticking the option, and check locally for any low-emission-zone benefit rather than assume a saving.
Caring for your plate on a Mazda
Wash with ordinary car shampoo and a soft sponge or cloth, the same as the rest of the bodywork. Avoid pointing a pressure washer directly at a raised gel or diamond finish from close range, the jet can work under the edge of the raised character over time. A soft brush gets into the gap around the surround safely. If the plate looks dull rather than dirty, check for road salt sitting against the fixing points over winter.

Road legal compliance
Every plate we build meets BS AU 145e, the mandatory UK standard since 1 September 2021: 79mm character height, 50mm width, 14mm stroke, 11mm character spacing, a 33mm gap before the age identifier, 11mm margins, single solid black characters, white retroreflective background at the front and yellow at the rear. Raised finishes such as gel and diamond are a dimensional effect, not a colour effect, so they remain compliant, and every plate carries our name and postcode as required. That spacing, font and reflectivity is also what keeps a plate readable by ANPR cameras. We are not a DVLA registered supplier.
