Citroën uses the same model name for petrol and electric versions, marked with an "ë" prefix: C3 and ë-C3, C3 Aircross and ë-C3 Aircross, C4 and ë-C4, C4 X and ë-C4 X, Berlingo and ë-Berlingo, SpaceTourer and ë-SpaceTourer. Only the "ë" versions are fully electric, so check your badge or V5C carefully rather than just the base model name. Some owners assume the diacritic mark over the e is just a styling choice, but Citroën uses it consistently across the range to flag the electric version, so it's a genuinely reliable way to tell the two apart once you know to look for it.
2. Confirm your model is still current
The C1, C4 Cactus and C3 Picasso are all discontinued in the UK. If you're replacing a plate for one of these, that's fine, your registration isn't affected by the model's sale status.
3. Only the "ë" models and the Ami qualify for a green flash
The Ami is electric-only, and every "ë" prefixed model is fully electric too, so these can carry a green flash plate. The C5 Aircross currently has no fully electric version in the UK, so it doesn't qualify.
